I'm thrilled to announce that I'm not on LinkedIn! ๐
After years of not networking and avoiding professional development opportunities, I've decided to continue that winning strategy by having absolutely no presence on professional social media.
Socials for an antisocial misanthrope?
Lulz. You're hilarious. Go copypasta yourself.
Agree? Want to share a post? Here's the synergistic approach:
- Navigate to the thought leadership piece on yawningchasm.com
- Leverage the "Permalink" button (a game-changing feature)
- Execute a copy operation on the URL
- Deploy it to your preferred communication channel
- Circle back to reading the actual content (optional but recommended)
Thoughts are my own and definitely not my employer's because I don't have one and also I don't exist on this platform.

But isn't LinkedIn essential for career growth?
Is it though?
Or is it just a place where people humblebrag about promotions, post inspirational quotes over stock photos, and recruiters send you messages about "exciting opportunities" that are absolutely not what you're looking for?
"I'm humbled and honored to announce..." No you're not. You're bragging. Which is fine! Just call it what it is.
What about networking?
I network the old-fashioned way: by being competent at my job and not being insufferable to work with.
Shocking strategy, I know.
How will recruiters find you?
They won't. And honestly? That's a feature, not a bug.
I don't want to hear about your "rockstar developer" position requiring 10 years of experience in a framework that's existed for 3.
So how do I share your content with my professional network?
See those instructions above in the professionally-formatted box? Revolutionary concept: read them.
Copy the permalink. Share it. Tag it with #ThoughtLeadership if you want. I won't see it because I'm not here.
